An Access Review
As institutions and departments work to widen participation in HE, it will be helpful for colleagues to participate in discussions about practice and its adjustment. These discussions will help to ensure that any changes that need to be made by individual tutors or by departments are sympathetic both to students' needs and to the demands of academic programmes. They will also make the implementation of any changes more likely to succeed.
Our 'Additional Reference Material' page suggests resources which would enable a department to undertake a fully comprehensive review of attitudes and practices.
A review exercise is likely to draw attention to issues on which more information is needed (dyslexia is perhaps the topic which has provoked greatest debate in the English subject community).
