Employability & Enterprise Case studies

From Climate to Landscape: Imagining the Future (CLIF) November 2010
Students used a field trip to Cornwall as the basis for creative projects imagining the future impact of climate change. This extra-curricular activity, part of the interdisciplinary CLIF project, led to presentations at a major academic conference. This case study was part of the English Subject Centre's 'Bringing the Outside In' case studies initiative.
Creative Careering – Innovative Approaches to Post-Graduation Planning
This case study provides a ‘creative tool-kit’ of simple ways in which staff can help prepare English and Creative Writing students for their careers after graduation. In particular, the benefits for such students of viewing themselves as part of the ‘creative industries’ is highlighted. The case study includes anonymised quotations from students across all three years of undergraduate study as well as web links to relevant resources and organisations.
Theatre Programming as a Problem-Based Assessment for use in Teaching Scottish/Irish Drama
This case study looks at the use of a theatre programming exercise as both an assessment tool and a technique for exploring the contemporaneity of play-texts, working on Twentieth Century Irish Theatre with a mixed Level 2 group coming from different educational and ethnic backgrounds.
