- The experiences and needs of disabled students studying English
- This study will focus on gathering information from disabled students about their experience of studying English, and the pedagogical, social, structural and technological factors that have helped and hindered them. It will examine these from a discipline-based rather than an institutional perspective: the focus will be on how their learning might be facilitated either through pedagogical changes or use of technology.

- Implications and Diasporas: English Studies in Scotland’s higher education institutions
- This project will engage with immigrant, non-white and minority groups who are studying English at Scottish universities, in order to uncover and assess their concerns and experiences. The project will involve a series of discussions, media-related projects and workshops, together with the subsequent analysis of these activities. The research and data collected will enable teachers of English in the UK to perceive, pre-empt and try to resolve tensions produced by racial and religious difference. It could also enrich English studies through a recognition and acceptance of diversity and through a readiness to rework and so revitalise English as a subject taught in higher education.
