Date: 24 Feb 10

Last Date for registration: 22 Feb 10
Event Overview:
This is the second meeting of the Northwest Network for English and Linguistics Pedagogy. It aims to bring together sixth form teachers, FE and HE lecturers working in English Language, Literatures in English, Creative Writing and Linguistics to consider the difficulties some students face in making the transition from advanced level to degree. The afternoon will include practical activities, presentations and discussion fora to explore ways in which we can work together to ease the transition. Dick Hudson, UCL, will present the results of a grammar survey he conducted of first year undergraduates' grammatical knowledge and he will offer his suggestions for ways forward. Kevin Watson and Willem Hollmann, Lancaster University, will also present how they introduce theory to first year undergraduates.
